Biography
Jubee Lee was born in South Korea and works as an installation glass artist in Centreville, Virginia. She graduated with a MFA from the Craft/Materials Studies Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Lee earned her BFA with honors studied in glass at Southern Illinois University where she was awarded with prestigious Rickery Zeibold Trust Award for her thesis works.
Lee has won the Best of Show at the Glass National exhibition in 2018 and the 1st prize in 2019. She has been selected as the 2019 Artist of the Year from the Korean Cultural Center in the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington DC. She was a scholarship recipient of the 45th Glass Art Society Conference in 2016. Lee was also awarded full scholarships from Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, and The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in 2018. Lee’s work has been exhibited in the Inlight Richmond at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Anderson Gallery, Page Bond Gallery, and Artspace Gallery in Richmond and in the Slover Library and d’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. Her most recent solo exhibition was shown at IA&A at Hillyer and the Korean Cultural Center in Washington DC in 2019. She is currently a resident artist in the glass program at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.
